Hi all! I thought I would do the very fun Springtime Tag I saw on Youtube recently through misshollyberries (watch her video here). I really like knowing how others answer these questions so please let me know some of your faves below!
- Spring means glowing skin. What do you do for healthy glowing skin?
I am naturally very glowy (read: oily mess), but I have been loving the ELF Illuminating Palette lately! I really love the first and fourth shades, and I love that they are very subtle but beautiful highlights. I purchased mine at Target for $6.
- What is the first beauty thing you think of when the weather warms up?
I’ve been really into highlighting (with concealers) and bronzing with cream bronzer – I feel like it’s changed my complexion!
- What is your favorite part of spring?
Sigh… I honestly dislike Spring. I do love the rain, though, so maybe the stormy days.
- Do you do your hair differently in the spring?
Yes! I will not dare to flat iron! It will become a hot mess really quickly haha. I wear it naturally curly, whereas in the Winter I did flar iton it once every couple of weeks.
- What clothing item are you most excited about wearing?
Hmm… I am not a big fashion person, but I think skater dresses and skirts are really cute.
- What is your favorite springtime smell or fragrance?
Prada Candy! And I love beachy scents in the Spring and Summer so sometimes I will use a sea salt spray in my hair.
- Favorite springtime lipstick color?
I will never let go of my brown-y nudes! But I recently got the NYX High Voltage lipstick in Flutterkiss which is a lot lighter than my typical nudes and it’s very spring-y.
- Favorite springtime nail color?
I have a few! China Glaze Secret Periwinkle, Essie Bikini So Teeny, Essie Go Ginza (love), Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet, American Apparel Summer Peach, Essie Fiji (stuck with pretty much pastels here)
- What is spring like where you live?
Really gross! I live in Florida and it’s unbearably hot as soon as “winter” ends. It’s already been in the 90s recently and I am slowly melting!
Today I am just going to be sharing my first Easter themed manicure of this year. Easter is in 4 days so I think I might squeeze one more mani in before it’s over.
This year I decided to go a bit simpler than I typically do. I chose a light mint base (Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet), did simple white dots on one finger, and little carrots on another. For the dots and carrots I just used a dotting tool – you can use anything you have, a bobby pin, a toothpick, you name it!
There’s my little guinea pig, Benny! Carrots are his favourite snack so he did not hesitate to take a bite right out of my nail polish :’) I tried to fix it a bit in the 2nd picture.
Last year my Easter manicure was more intense and included 6 colours (plus black and white) and a cute baby chick. You can check it out here if you’d like.
Hope you are doing well! Please share your Easter manicure ideas with me!
I’ve recently been re-watching some older (2015) YouTube videos from my fave nail polish girls, and one I particularly loved was the “All About Polish” tag they came up with. I’ll link to all their videos below (: I decided to make their video collab into a blog post because the questions were so fun and I loved hearing everyone’s answers!
Here it goes… Continue reading
I’ve been changing my nail polish a lot more recently, and my current mani is by far one the prettiest polishes I’ve ever owned! A couple of weeks ago I was able to snag Deborah Lippmann’s Cleopatra in New York on eBay for $5 (steal!). I have had this polish on my wishlist for years, because of the lovely Zenorah who I follow on Instagram (link), Snapchat, and YouTube (link).
Today I have a super exciting post for me! For the past couple of years I have trying to get my hands on some of the Sinful Colors limited edition glitter toppers (see here!). I gave up after driving to all the Walgreens in my city last year, but today as I stumbled in to Walgreens for some medicine, lo and behold, there it was! Continue reading
Hi all! Today I am going to share my current nail polish wishlist with you all. As I add more polishes to my list I’ll be sure to update this post. This is a way to keep track of the polishes I am after as well as cross them off as I get them.
So, here it is! Continue reading
Hi all! Long time!
I absolutely love this mani I’ve been dying to try, and what better time than for the concert I am going to this weekend?! Grad school and work have been so rough, this is just the sparkly pick-me-up I needed.
It’s been a while – life has been so crazy. I will definitely start posting more now that school is easing up for the summer months 🙂
When ipsy or myglam started a few years ago, I was one of the first people to sign up! However, I was disappointed and after a few months I cancelled my subscription. Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz surrounding the new ipsy on Instagram and YouTube. It seemed like they had stepped their game up so I decided to give it another go. (click to enlarge!)
To my surprise, I am in awe! This is my June glam bag – I seemed to be in the first batch of people to receive theirs in the mail so I wanted to share. I am very impressed – $10 for all of this! This month I got 2 high end products (IT Cosmetics and Smashbox) and 3 new things to try. I am already crazy over the cream eyeshadow and the nail polish (review coming soon) and not too crazy on the eye pads but I will try them. I’ll be traveling out of the country soon so this was perfect timing.
Contents of my bag (June 2015):
- IT Cosmetics brow power universal eyebrow pencil
- Aurora Gel Effect Nail Polish- shade: 4 Alarm Fire
- Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer- 0.25 fl oz
- Altchek MD Eye Gel Pads (2)
- tre’StiQue Shadow Crayon – shade: Marimoto Pink Pearl
- Cute makeup bag – I think it’s waterproof!
Do you subscibe to ipsy? What did you get this month and what were your thoughts? I am so curious 🙂 I am actually excited about a subscription service for once. (I also got Birchbox for the first month and I am NOT impressed. If you want to see a review or what I got, let me know)
If you want to sign up for ipsy feel free to use my link: https://www.ipsy.com/new?refer=1km39
I saw what some of the other bags received and they were great products too. Very generously sized for samples – I don’t think you’d need more.
Hope you are all having a fun summer so far!
Hi guys –
Prom season is upon us! I can’t believe another school year has gone by, and that it’s now been FIVE years since I went to my senior prom… insane!
I did my nails the other day to try out a new polish I got, and I thought how pretty these nails would look for prom. They’re super easy, you only need 2 or 3 polishes, depending on which size glitter toppers you own.
I used purple polish and silver glitter, but you can definitely switch this up to match any dress, give a different pop of colour, or when it doubt, go with a nude nail polish for your base.
These are the nails I did:
Essie Play Date (purple)
Sinful Colors Queen of Beauty (fine silver glitter)
L.A. Colors Art Deco Silver Glitter – this is a skinny nail art brush polish, I found at my local dollar store (chunky silver glitter)
For this look, all you need is:
- Any colour nail polish of your choice
- A fine glitter topper
- A chunky glitter topper
